When the Ground fell into the Sky

The sky is green,
the grass is blue.
i hate you means
i love you too.

The day is dark,
the night is light.
Rocks quarrel mercilessly
and trees snarl and bite.

The sky leaps onto the earth,
and the ground falls into the sky.
Bats walk around on the floor,
and humans grow wings and fly.

The land of opposites
you have to see.
where i am you,
and you are me.

where wrong is right,
and right is wrong.
where robins make lectures,
and professors make song.

where you eat drinks,
and drink food.
where cows have barked
and dogs have mooed.

Not to mention the mouse
Who viciously ate the cat,
Or the little white rabbit who
Pulled a magician out from his hat.

where spaceships swim in ponds,
and where fish float in space.
these are the things that
go on in this place.

Author notes

I have to thank Autumn Sparrow for this poem, really. she made up this weird poem-
The grass is blue,
the sky is yellow.
my friend Martina,
is a fellow-
which i hated, but its unusual side got me to rethinking about it. what? i thought. blue grass and yellow sky? then i knew what to write.
thank you Autumn Sparrow!

This is wonderful! I love the whole atmosphere and scene you have created here; it reminds me almost of a Dr Zeuss or Spike Milligan poem! I also like it because it is quite different from some of the other poems I have recently read, and has a refreshing, playful, light bounce to it. Overall, this is a great write! Well done! Thanks for entering the contest, and best of luck in it.

    peace xx

I love nonsensical poems and opposites. This is done very skillfully. The title is great, and my favorite part is definitely about the lecturing robins and singing professors. Almost made me laugh. I never laugh at poems, even if I think they're funny, so that is a major compliment!
