Meteor Shower

Lost in the night
Illuminate in starlight

Musing on years past
Outline of your body in the grass

Cold now is the sting
These memories bring

Emptiness by my side
Nothing left to confide

The loneliness is enthralling

Alas

The stars have fallen

They come in streaks
Of gold and silver
Alone and weak
In darkness I shiver

Patronized and warned
Numbed by the scorn
Crossing all waters and bourns
I should have seen the coming storm

Trapped now by the dying flowers

Doomed to face the meteor showers

As they crash to earth
It echoes in my head
Like the romantic verse
I’ve once read

My mind is bleakly recalling

The night the sky came falling

When we laid in the yard
As we both died within
Counting our lucky stars
In the blanket of heaven

In our sleep, dreams were stolen

With the break of dawn
The tide could not be turned
With curtains drawn
We incinerate in the cosmic burn

Of tears we were bawling

Now to this power
To which I cater
Lost in endless hours
Buried in the craters

Tonight I watch, the stars come falling

Inspired and based on my earlier write 'Stars Came Falling':

Here I am revisting these thoughts and emotions years later. Enjoy.

    Great!

    This was so beautiful.

    "Lost in the night
    Illuminate in starlight
    Musing on years past
Outline of your body in the grass"

That's my favorite! You write so well. I wouldn't change anything about it. The flow is good, too!
