What's become of me?

What’s become of me?
Beauty – infallible beauty
Oh, and immeasurable strength and confidence –
I think this is what David meant
When he said
“I am wonderfully and fearfully made”

Old self
Wretched and torn
Tragic really –
Influenced, ha, as influenced as
Thirteen year old girls get
By watching music videos on MTV;
Influence isn’t even the word –
Enslaved, enslaved by everything, yes,
Oh, but really enslaved by the one thing
That deteriorates.
Yes, the same cancer
That consumes each of us.
Enslaved.
Slave to animals,
No, not humans –
Animal describes it best
When dehumanization takes place
Upon a weak-willed girl.
Tragic really
When a girl
Cannot udder the words “No”
Old self
Lost beyond lost
Taken astray by lies,
Oh how those lies are so so true
To us – BAM hit reality
And notice just how far
You’ve fallen,
That’s the feeling,
That’s the old self.

Wait, we’re not done!

Oh happy day! Rejoice!

New self
It’s real alright!
Touch it, feel it, taste it –
It is the incarnation of hope
Upon the smile
Of a girl
Once defiled
By that plague.
Pain – oh yes, still
Joy – more than ever!
New self
You bet.

What’s become of me?
No clue. It’s beyond me,
Beyond my imagination
And with confidence I can say
“I am wonderfully and fearfully made.”

Please tell me what you think

Beautiful! A personal transformation is a wonderful thing. I love the repetition of "I am wonderfully and fearfully made." Fantastic!
