The Moment

It's the moment a child is born
Or when a promise between two lovers is sworn.

The moment of triumph when you win a gold medal
Or when you learn how to ride your first bike and pedal.

The moment you plant a smile on an orphans face
Or when you graduate with honors and walk proudly in grace.

The moment a solider holds his weapon to defend and fight
Or when you stand up for a good cause, defy injustice and equally unite.

The moment you vow to live together in sickness and in health
Or when you give to those less fortunate, despite eminence or wealth.

The moment you kneel down humbly to pray
Or when you're a leaning shoulder to a friend who's lost in dismay.

The moment you look up to a person you heartedly admire
Or when you work, teach, sing, write, act or dance to lead by example and inspire.

It all came down to the very moment our love celebrated a new year
You held my hand, took it close to your lips and kissed away my fears.

I quivered in every moment mankind has seen, and has yet to see
