When rain falls
and I'm in front of the computer
I listen to the patter,
soft against the windows,
imagining snow
even gentler yet
kissing the glass
and my face pressed against it.
When rain falls
and I'm lying in bed
I turn from the clock
to the pink shades
watching their shadows fall
letting myself slip
into the lullaby
that sings in notes
on the sidewalk and roof.
When rain falls
and I'm sleeping
the wet slips into my dreams
springing fairies into imagination
and water-birds, formed
by the velvet mist in the air.
And then, when the alarm calls out
I'll wake to the staccato
one of the things reality
can only vaguely echo
what, when dreaming
was fairy laughter.

I really liked this. The peacefulness of the sound of rain falling is wonderful.
I love to sit at a window and just watch it…..there is such beauty in rain, and the sound of it is calming and gentle. Your poem is lovely and captured the tranquillity of those raindrops as they fall.
