Toys Don’t Last Forever

It’s sad when toys are torn apart
By jealous wolves without a heart.
A broken doll can never hide,
But even dolls can die inside.

She once was proudly on display,
Until her owner walked away.
It’s sad when dolls are cast aside,
But even dolls can die inside.

Relationships will change with age
And every child will turn the page.
Such toys no longer dignified,
But even dolls can die inside.

It’s sad when toys are torn apart,
But even dolls can die inside

I cannot help but picture this as a metaphor for a trophy wife "Barbie Doll" who plays with the wolves and is lost to herself in the process. I can see her leading a broken life. This is a perfect Kyrielle Sonnet as the refrain carries the poem not the other way around. A wonderful entry in the contest and very deserving of the trophy!

Thank you so much. I love to see my intended metaphor interpreted in different ways.

I never played with dolls, except a few times. They sort of scared me...lol However, with that said, I
truly appreciate the message behind the poetry, and
of course, your form and style go beyond compare
    Love, Lane

This is so sad, yet so amazingly written sis. Holds great depth about what effects jealousy can cause, and how often people are discarded in this life...

I am bookmarking this! It's such a wonderful write!

Even your sad poems leave me sighing in awe after I read it. So amazing...
Love the repeating line; first two lines are so powerful.

Beautiful and deeply meaningful poetry, the Kyrielle sonnet seems on the surface to be ideal for light and fluffy poetry, you have taken what appears to be a light fluffy story in a light fluffy form and created something that rises far above that,
    poetry.

a poignant write filled with glimmers and shouts of truth and pain, but as with nature there always comes a fall and winter followed by a spring and summer. therefore when such bequeaths itself up in one's life, just remember the coming spring and go toss snowballs!!

    love ya

    Dad
