Sun comes up and morning breaks,
and war planes hit the air.
Many men went up and died,
and the young now do not care.
So Sad
The word goes out ,”Over the top”,
men scramble out of trenches to die.
Mothers, wives and girlfriends
back home get the news and cry.
So Sad
Christmas time and the Bulge began,
men surrounded at Bastogne.
Old Blood and Guts to the rescue,
now pride like that id gone.
So Sad
Porkchop hill took many good men,
just for a power play.
The sacrifice made by so many men,
is forgotten about today.
So Sad
Viet Nam was the war we lost,
and the fighting men got blamed.
When fault was really here at home,
I hope this war won’t be the same.
So Sad
What happened to our homeland pride,
that our forefathers always had.
The way our nations heading now,
were losing the freedoms that we had.
So Sad

A beautiful, but sad write that depicts things as they were and are today. Yep, I sense that there are many in society today who just don't give a buggar about those who protect our land. Seems most are too busy trying to keep the terros happy so their own little worlds won't be rocked. Spider and I always say that this country has lost all that it was. It is nolonger happy go lucky, nor are we free to speak our minds. (too much political correctness and bullshit!) The pollies are all full of crap and just want to impress instead of doing what they should be doing. Your write sounds out a message that should be heeded but alas, I think todays people have lost the plot. Too much me! me! me!. Well done and congrats on that gold trophy which is so much deserved.

You have penned a wonderful poem that touches the hearts of the readers. These wars have touched many lives also

Just wonderful What an amazing take on the picture and prompts. Your words are so heartfelt and full of such a special message.
I agree that it was so sad and definately not right that soldiers from Vietnam came home to a country that lay their rage on the soldiers. That was so sad and left soldiers feeling lost and bitter.
All the very best with this.

Brilliant ! !
I loved this stanza
Viet Nam was the war we lost,
and the fighting men got blamed.
When fault was really here at home,
I hope this war won’t be the same.
So Sad
My ex partner is a Vietnam Vet, so I can relate to it. Although NOBODY would understand the full extent of it unless they were actually there. This is a very good write
Well done

A sad poem, and great take on the picture prompt.
Interesting to note that the freedoms that are being lost now are within our own country, not from external enemies!!!

-
