Surrender?

in my moonlit dreams,
the cracking of frozen ponds echoes
the tear in my heart,
ripped down a fault line,
driving down a road
too close to home.

love flies its white flag,
taking my hand and warming it
in the smooth folds of fabric,
telling me that it is okay to cry
because it is there for me,
whenever,
wherever.

this broken heart bleeds for home --
no, not lost love, not the boy who wasn't,
just food and family,
everything i tried to run from
for so long.

this heart holds itself together with scotch tape
and the warm hands of a boy
writing poems he never thought
he'd give away;
it is captured in notebook paper envelopes
and the security of a sweatshirt
that still smells of stoned smoking trips,
sweet and dreamlike in the dark.

and i wonder,
am i jinxing myself
when those words escape
so quickly,
when i willingly make them truth?

Author notes

it's been months since i've written anything. this is terrible. i would hate for anyone who's never seen my work to see this and judge me. but i am busier than i ever dreamed, more stressed than i ever thought possible, and i'm more in love than i've ever been. i'm scared when i think that it's only been a month and it's already love, whatever that is.

hopefully this is the beginning of writing again; i've been missing it.

Whatever you want to say. Critiques, anything. :)

Love reveals itself when it is ready. For some it is sooner than others. I say just go with it and see where it leads you.

I love it dear, because it's what's on your mind and I can feel it through the words. I just recently moved out, and I know what it's like to miss home and things you never thought you'd miss. and boys, well being in love is great, yay for you darling. I look forward to seeing more from you soon.

    loves!
