The Knot

A mother, in the truest sense,
Is special in so many ways.
She gives and loves with all her heart;
Taking only what she needs.
She has a bond with her children
No one can touch…
She holds a title that will not die
And expands over time…
To become grandmother,
Great-grandmother, and so on…

There is something she does,
No other can truly boast
She makes her family a family…
She is the knot that ties it together.
When siblings no longer communicate
They still have their mother
She keeps us connected!

May we ever appreciate
The place she inhabits in our hearts
And never forget the gifts she has given us…
Of love, light and openness
Open to see and receive the gifts of life!

Author notes

This is a poem I wrote Sunday, 10/5, thinking of my grandmother. I was also thinking of my mother when I wrote it.... so it has a bit more general meaning, but it was mainly written for my grandmother.

RIP Grandma 10/13/08! I love you and will never forget you!
