Sadness Did Not Win

I heard the bell ring, I heard the ruffle of clothing
I heard a loud groan and then I heard the crying.
I knew it was not good, but did not accept her dieing
I put on a smile and proceed to say "so long"
I remembered every happy moment:reading a story, singing a funny song, jumping rope, running in the grass, and lots of laud laughter
Sadness did not win.

I heard the laughter, I saw the furtive glances
I heard the whispers,at first I wondered the cause of such -

I did not even fathom the level of such deceit.
What is the cost of a ruined reputation?
What is the effect of a deep drop into depression?
A monstrous Lie is worst than a Tsunami .
It lays bear the construct of a life.
It sends arrows meant to kill into the soul.

I decided to put on my bright red dress
I decided to sport my best  matching hat
I decided to meet the devil and not put up a fuss.
Denial just opens a swinging door.
I decided to laugh and sing,
God would take care of every thing.
Sadness did not win.

Hands would not move
Feet went their own way
Lost in a gait that swung like a drunken leaf.
When the surgery was over I did not feel relief.
I spied the sun shine through a window
and saw small boats on a quiet sea in the mist of the city.
I smiled at the  silver high risers
and knew that I was still alive and so happy.
Sadness did not win.

I enjoyed the personal depth of this, that it came from the heart and not just to promote you're writing ability as such.. always most effective that way in my book..

A great write and a heart warming story. No we can not let sadness win or else it will take everything from us. We will shrivel up until there is nothing left. The small moments are the most important and I am glad you gto through the surgery. Your wear that red dress and matching hat and you show the world that you beat it. That you survived and are happy. Thank you for entering and I hope someone who is going through something simialr will read this and know that they too can beat the sadness. Good luck in my contest. And may you be happy in all you do.

Yes, indeed small moments so we have to remember to laugh and smile alittle longer because they will soon vanish! Your poem reminded us of that... thanks for sharing.
