Hidden deep,
he sits silently waiting~
Scent carries on the wind,
with each gust.
Blackness tempts,
succulence awaits~
Half dusk he moves in hesitant dance,
eyes dart towards unseen smells~
But the black draws him onwards,
in the ritual of hunger.
Hibernation edges him forward,
in its time honored fashion~
Movement sends out shafts of fear,
tingling the nerves of a warrior~
Immobile,
he waits for the danger to pass~
Hesitant for a second,
claw moves in artful arch~
Rewarded,
he gathers the last autumn berries close~
As the white starts to glisten,
on a stark barren night.

Creme Caramel
Spanish in origin;
Egg custard served cold with a topping of burnt sugar syrup.
Sounds disqusting but is nectar!

I LOVE Custard...pudding....anything of that sort...we have a coconut pudding we make here...haupia...hawai'ian for coconut...it is to die for!!!
