If anyone was assigned to be my Fairy Godmother
And I thank for being in my life with her magic
It was my kind and generous step-grandmother
Elza's great heart was boundless and knew no limits
As a child, Elza made all of my dreams come true
And she loved and accepted me unconditionally
I was her little daughter that she never had or knew
Even her blood looked at her love for me with envy
I was Elza's dancing ballerina at the age of four
Twirling and plieing on her sunken living room floor
Her home was a treasure chest I loved to explore
The smell of moth balls , endless halls and secret doors
A large stained-glass door opened out into a patio
That housed a most elaborate and wonderful pond
Cupid pouring water from a jar, a life-like statue
A Goddess protecting it, holding a beautiful wand
Large and colorful koi swam in the sparkling waters
White lily pads decorated their tranquility and stillness
I would sit and watch them swimming for endless hours
A child in a world of sweet dreams and eternal bliss
In the front of Elza’s house was a big, thick hedge
That housed a mysterious and very shy creature
I tried tirelessly to catch a glimpse of this being
He eluded me but ate the food I left quick and sure
Elza was a grandiose women, doing things in a big way
Endless parties - Christmas, Easter and birthdays
Gifts like a never-ending festival that always stayed
She spoiled with a love that our hearts and souls craved
Sadly, all the love we had couldn’t heal all of our wounds
And when I turned sixteen, my Fairy Godmother disappeared
The celestial clock struck twelve and it was over too soon
But I will remember and cherish my Fairy Godmother, so dear
