So many things hidden deep below its depths
Words spoken angrily
Caught by its soft, shaggy fur
Sounds once muffled
Now trapped within its embrace
Every footstep that it ever saw
Smelt, tasted and touched
Stored in the memory of the long hairs
That will never grow
Every cup that was ever spilled
And parents sharp reprimand
Slowly, very slowy
Sunk into its golden furs
Imprints of furniture come and gone
Years of travellers, families and couples
So many happy memories
So many sad
All imprinted deeply on the carpet that will always live
