I never knew
what love could be
till you ....
opened my eyes
and made me see
how willing you
always were
to make sacrifices
how free you made
me feel.....
I never thought
I'd see myself
with someone
like you
never in my life
empty forever
of a man's love.
But here you are
right here beside me
Now I can see
what love
really can be
free to be me
free to love you.
I never again
want to be alone
so don't show me
what love can be
then let me go
as no other man
could ever
take your place
nor any temptation
to sway me away.
You're
my last chance
at knowing
what real love is.
Here
inside my heart
you have written
a lovers creed
engraved
to last an eternity.
So love me
hold me
be with me
never let me go!

A really beautiful poem. Love how you dedicated it to your husband. This poem expresses your feelings very well. You convey the thought of being alone again as something you never want to have to experience again. You did a wonderful job of describing feelings in detail. This allows the reader to comprehend and see where you are coming from better. You did a really nice job with this poem. I really love it!!! Good Work!!!

That was gorgeous. You can practically feel the love oozing out of every heartfelt word - and that's not a bad thing. Your devotion and love and adoration come across very clearly, and your words were well chosen.
Just one thing: "to make sacrafices". It's spelled sacrifices. But that's such a small, trivial thing.
Amazing poem. -
Perhaps only the experience of having previously been poorly loved can make us appreciate true love when we find it. Your poem expresses well how much you cherish your husband. I think you are both lucky!
