Bubbling With Excitment

I have held the hand of my very best friend,
all of my life.
She makes me smile and giggle all the while,
for my best friend is the inner child.

I will make mud pies with the kids next door,
give them monster faces and sometimes more.
Make a slip and slide out of shampoo and trash bags,
its the most fun I ever had.

Slide down a dirt hill on a piece of cardboard,
laughing and playing we couldn't want for more.
Sit in the yard under the sprinkler some days,
just to enjoy the cool my own special way.

I love to let children help me make cookies and bread,
before we get done I have dough all over my head.
Once we even got into a flour fight,
and we all ended up on the floor laughing till w cried.

I might chase you with a water hose,
or wipe cake icing on your nose.
Have water balloon fights and fill the day,
for the child within me is always at play.

I think people would be happier if they let that child out,
for their are so many young people who sit around and pout.
So afraid someone might see them having some fun,
but believe me that friend within is the only one.

Ride a tricycle around the block with your knees up high,
race with a neighbor and bring back the joy of life.
If you would just let go and do as you wish today,
you could enjoy life everyday.
