Witch Born
Written on Aug 31 2003
I was born knowing
understanding the elements
gathering the knowledge
seeing other worlds
brought up within a family
part understanding
part stifling my ways
I knew I was different
something in me had passed
through the gates of rebirth
into this life
and it craved the old ways
the ways most had forgotten
waiting to be revived
I am not Wiccan, but witch
older than time is the knowledge
and power than seethes
through my very essence
into all I do and I all am
It is not just a religion
No
It is a way of life
The balance between the worlds
respecting the elements
knowing how and when to call
it is the healing of the mind
through the hands
helping and seeking further
into the realms of the unknown
There is no black nor white
only the gray of reality
as you choose how you use
the gifts and powers given
how to use the knowledge passed
into your mind and soul
and through this life
There are many of us
though only few see us as we are
understanding who we are
and why we are here
walking amongst you
forever changing what was
to what shall be
It is the fear of the unknown
that people shun most
the fear that they too
hold the power of the universe
in the recesses of their minds
and the thought that they too
must use that power one day
And find balance and peace
to save themselves
from the darkness spread
throughout the world
in which we live and breed
and realize we are all
in reality the same
Do you fear me
or
do you fear yourself
Blessed be

This poem reflects a lot of who I am. It is a certain awareness one has of themselves, and others and the forces that move around us whether it be pure energy, or energy in the form of an element-an elder. I am finally getting back to my sayings. I find that when my strength and energy is most scattered I need to say the words so to speak. When I am empowered-I think it, and it occurs. People fear themselves-I know I do and have and always will. This poem seems to be what I needed to read, as I start to bond again with the earth under my feet. I love Stevie Nicks, she's my all time favorite, and she has a verse in gypsy that I say a lot when I've gotten too powerful for myself.. "back to the gypsy, that I was, to the gypsy that I was". Then, another verse I love that this poem reminds me of is: "so I'm back to the velvet underground, back to the floor, that I love.. to a room, with some lace and paperflowers .. back to the gypsy".. Excellent write.

Simple and to the point...this is you... and this is me...of course there are other people too...and although i would word it differently...it all means the same thing....who would dare use self the way self wishes to be used?...who would dare give self...what self wants...and more importantly what self needs....most people would call this selfish...little do they know it is the most important thing they can do...for this is what will help this world...this is how we will evolve....but sadly notion above can be so easily distorted....but you know that well...i ranted a little ...hehehe...love to you

The part about the family can apply to literary talent as well as to being a witch, in my opinion.
Enjoyed your write.

ah to know the self, and smile. age old spirit, sometimes i feel like i have been here forever, then other times i feel like an infant, rolling humour across the stars. a good poem.

i can feel the essence seep from this....
i can relate... i have been seeking too. i feel there is a battle within myself. half that is trying to be me, which is not that which i have brought up to be. and i feel like this is how it is. to be amongst those who fear the old ways. to have my up bringing stiffen who i really am.
"something in me had passed
through the gates of rebirth
into this life"
yes finally i am not the only one that feels like this. i have known that others have come forth feeling like they don't truly belong. thanks

"am not Wiccan, but witch
older than time is the knowledge" - smiles to see such a misunderstood concept so perfectly placed in common terms by one who is aware that the bending of will is not a concentrated effort but a choice of application.
It is the fear of the unknown
that people shun most
the fear that they too
hold the power of the universe
in the recesses of their minds
and the thought that they too
must use that power one day
nods with a smile from ear to ear
what more is there to say when you have versed it already.

No one should fear the alchemy of visionary healing. White craft knowledge is in sparse supply these days. Yet those religilous in life wear blinders in these times of woefulneed. I for one appreciate your gift. Or task as the case maybe. Fine scripted verse on the topic of burdensome quest and personal sharing.

The gray of reality - that is the truth. Your poem reminds me of how important it is now as in any other time in history to be able to balance between the worlds and respect the elements.
