autumn arrives in the darkest night
slowly her winds blossom again
the air is chilly and leaves defy
soon abundant gold will disappear
thriving life becomes subdued
a winter's rest is more calming
memories of you bring me sorrow
fruitful and then so barren and empty
your shadow ignores my every plea
deny me a beautiful autumn's day

This is wonderfully done. It has a certain mood that is very alluring and I found myself falling into it quite nicely

beautiful write.
"a winter's rest is more calming"
like that line very much...
A poem filled with both emotion and observation.
well done!

This is very nice! It reminds me of global warming. Now, whether that was your intention, I don't know, but I liked it!
Good luck in the contest!

"autumn arrives in the darkest night"
A very effective entry to this deep and brooding poem, that seeks consolation but, as autumn does, offers only ephemeral and chilly comfort!
