I would like to be your happy grandpa.
One I'm old enough and love to guffaw.
Two, Storiesuntold is your grandma
she's great and seen what I haven't saw.
Three, you love things of nature, I see
connection of souls like those in a tree
loving life the way everyone ought to be
I feel your spirit like the dove flies free.
Four(or five thru infinity), my appeal.
I'm about to be a grandpa for real
My son, who is in Iraq, and his wife
soon will bring my first grandchild to life.
Family is something we all do need
through them our hearts we feed
Spiritual blessings and tribulations
shared togeather in honest relations.
I'll need you at times as you will me
I walk my talk and in truth I believe
Like poetry comes from the heart
I'll be here for you right from the start.
Most important of all, I'll be your friend
and on that, you can always depend
we all need to have and lend an ear
and mine will be here for you, year after year.

Wonderful write, I spent seven months on the road. Recently met grands #7-8, twin girls. When a grandchild smiles at you, nothing else much seems to matter. Congrats on yours...enjoy, you'll have no choice.

I'd be honored to call you my AP Grandpa, for I never had the chance to meet my own I'll be looking forward to talk to you and know you more though your page says alot and it says you are a great person. (By the way, your daughter looks so much like you, lol). I am happy for your great news of becoming a real Grandpa, and I can easily feel you about your son in Iraq (this is where I live) and yes, it is indeed getting better and hopefully he'll be back soon to his family and in time to see his son's birth.
I loved this poem, it spoke to me more than anything. The second stanza was beautiful and made me feel like you know me. Thanks for entering, Grandpa.
