Will you travel this road
through the flutes and horns
of a night
swarming with unending fires
and colours
that will burst upon your feet
with every turning leaf?
You may see a scary face ~
the mask to the last notes of summer
behind unopened windows
frightening away spirits
who may tread across paved doorways.
This house
now protected
will softly fall upon the flaming shades of fall
like the chestnut
with its cheeky grin
watching October

Lovely and refreshing take on the prompt, encompassing as it does all of Autumn, and a type of official end to summer.

Lovely poem with some great descriptive lines.
Congratulations on Bronze trophy

ooo, I love the chestnut with his cheeky grin and the element of protection that your jack-o-lantern brings to this night in an otherwise comfy home. "watching October..." I like that. Thank you!
