the lights dimmed on the once-bright
clasped hands, of two separate persons,
acting as one single-celled entity
-once upon a time they had one heart to share.
it was an empty love;
empty of feelings and trust.
but she was still righteous enough to say ‘stop, not now’
and he was always corrupt enough to hurt her,
for she was his mirror.
journal entries, blank,
except for the pictures of my superman
and captions saying I’m not useless, I’m not empty, I will not be empty’
it was a ceasefire, for the moment
but the battle will never be won.
their heart-strings were both tripping over time
and the slope of the slanted minds
was always something hard to calculate,
and in the end
the split caused vacant expressions
on both sides of the canvas.

Challenge #3
Reserve a spot.
I'll give you a word.
This will not be an easy word like love or sadness
It may be something like cheesecake or echoes
and once again you cannot describe it
I like cryptic poems.
---
word: vacuous.

Genius. Not what I expected from this prompt at all, and I love that. The ending was amazing. The imagery and flow. Just amazing. Thank you.
