When night whispers her gentle song and infinite stars alight
Within my vision breaks the dawn of beyond, standing in this life
Shadows of fallen might-of-beens, choral the sinking day
Crickets chirping of where and whens, as if for a summa's grade
Laughter begins her silent chant, to add to the tender fare,
As you walk naked toward me, clad in greying briars wayward cairn
Pale eyes catching meanings intent, my heart pounding, a drum
I will not, cannot truth pretend, in speaking I am stricken dumb.
Had you been but another soul, I would have in terror cried,
You are silver to me and gold, and here I must be driven to surmise
For ten years today it has been, laughter, love, a crazy life
Sometimes I want to stop the din, by setting you blithely alight
It matters not how or when, I never attempted the grade
In my heart buried sin of thought with every brand new day
'T would be too hard, iron clad, your ego in a cairn
It would too gigantic,laddie-buck, and really quite unfair
Thus you will never know, I pretend, while my heart is dumb
It was smart enough in its pretense, a snare as choice of drum
You are my reward tipped in gold, what else could I surmise
My Heaven in this stormy shoal, my love, this I'll not deny,
I love having you in my life!
