Broken

He killed you

and I watched

as you took last breath,

you said my name

as tears flowed over.

I stood there unmoving

and watched you fall into waters depths

to turn it as red as my tears.

I loved you

and failed you,

I promised to protect you

only to deceive you.

My oath withered

like a rose before winter

as it was broken

when your blood touched the ground.

My heart broke

and I called out your name

never to hear an answer.

    Thank you so much for entering this contest, I was hoping it would prove a catharsis for some and aide for others. Again thanks for entering and redoing your background so thet I could read it easier.

    I hate to ask you to do this but could tou fix the background to a single picture and a plain background. I wear glasses and the color combination with the busy backing make it hard for me to read, I can't even find the "hide background" option.
