a question for romeo

romeo and juliet?
they've got nothing on us, babe

their iambic pentameter, rhymes,
and window-calling, devotion-promising speeches...

they'll never compare
to our letters
our whispers into the phone
our quiet vows of love
spoken in the small hours of the morning

it's such a shame.
oh, what a tragedy.

you see,
we're star-crossed too. fated.
to be together as long as we shall live.

what would romeo have done though:

if dear juliet didn't appear on the balcony?

if she'd taken the insidious dosage earlier;
closing her eyes, slowing her heart?

would he have climbed to her room,
softly calling her name,
only to find his beloved taken by death unfeigned?

what if no poison could bring him comfort,
for in one cold hand,
she clasped a note simply asking him to live?

what would he do?

what would you?

i thought this was wonderful! you really express the great love that you have for this person. i love how you compare it to romeo and juliet's love... it reminded me of a child comparing two things together (like if they said "my cookie is bigger than yours!") okay that was a bad example but hopefully you get the point that i really liked how you wrote it the way you wrote it. it was fantabulous! i also really enjoy the ending's last two questions. this was a totally awesome poem. thanks for entering! =)

    this stings.
    very well done, though.

todays just a day where everything seems to be referring to shakespeare.
    how odd.
