A Pebble

Falling slowly among these rocks
As the edges are worn away
Standing upon these stage so high
Screaming for all the world to hear
So you can all watch me bend over backwards
And jump through these hoops
These rocks that once hurt me so
Now my comfort
Smooth as pebbles worn with age
As my breath starts to get trapped
My wounds have grown deeper with time
And this burning sensation is nothing new
I can only blame myself
As this world slowly adjusts
And this old pain becomes condolence
A beautiful night sky to share alone
Whilst the phoenix dances among the stars
Make my mask suitable my dear phoenix
And drop it down so I may too be taken by fate
Wind catching me like a petal
As I watch from high as the world crumbles
Someone save me from this world
I shouldn't be this show pony
Jumping over those fences for anyone
But the comfort calls to me
As each embrace lasts longer
Let these pebbles hold me close
As the world crumbles before me
I know it isn't healthy
But each pebble holds a story
And the time of the world is mine
