Every year is the same,
we go out on Halloween night.
Green make up with warts,
looking like a terrible sight!
Walking miles and more miles,
all around our big town.
Looking for the rich folks homes,
where all the best candies found.
Then my feet begin to ache,
and my arms start to drag.
From all the candy I've got,
there's no more room in my bag!
Looking down on my sleepy face,
my Dad lovingly takes my hand.
"Lets get you on home dear"
I never seen his evil plan!
In the bathroom he sends me,
to wash and clean my face.
While he goes through my candy,
tossing out this one...just in case!
When I looked in my bag,
I knew something was wrong.
Half my candy was missing,
I started to scream and moan!
"Who took all my candy,
that I worked for so hard?"
Dad smiled in his innocence,
"no one...I've been on guard!"
we go out on Halloween night.
Green make up with warts,
looking like a terrible sight!
Walking miles and more miles,
all around our big town.
Looking for the rich folks homes,
where all the best candies found.
Then my feet begin to ache,
and my arms start to drag.
From all the candy I've got,
there's no more room in my bag!
Looking down on my sleepy face,
my Dad lovingly takes my hand.
"Lets get you on home dear"
I never seen his evil plan!
In the bathroom he sends me,
to wash and clean my face.
While he goes through my candy,
tossing out this one...just in case!
When I looked in my bag,
I knew something was wrong.
Half my candy was missing,

"Who took all my candy,

"no one...I've been on guard!"
Author notes
I remember as a child knowing I never had as much candy after I got home as I did before my parents got through looking for "the bad ones" After I was grown they told me they would take out the ones they liked first! Ha!

ha ha thats hilarious and so totally something a parent would do and could get away with. I liked the flow in this poem and found your imagery to be strong and to create a strong picture for the reader.

Ha! How funny. I remember my parents doing the same thing. The benefit to becoming a parent myself is now I get to do it! Thanks for the entry and good luck.

Yeah it's easy to get by with it when they are little but once they get alittle older they start getting wise to you!

Thanks so much for your comment! I use to just love Halloween as a kid...those were the days! We did get so tired,we did love the big houses(back then they did give you more)Ha! And our parents did "trick" us into thinking they just took out the candy they thought was bad!
Loved it though!
Glad to take you down memory lane with me!
