I sit here, looking through photos
tears stream silently down my pink cheeks
Pictures of our wedding day, beautiful
you, me, and all of our dreams
You have gone, so far away
I cannot stop this painful deluge anymore
I want you, I need you
want to feel your arms around me
To hold you in my arms
nestled safely there to dream of tomorrow
I cannot deal with this pain
it is more than I can endure
Please don't stay gone too long
come home to my achingly sore heart

Gah, I can't believe I forgot to comment on this when i first looked. I love it! It's so perfect for my situation, which makes all that much more sense with your explanation. But to me, even a week is too long, let alone a year.

Oh, this is sad. The imagery is so soft, and it's beautifully penned. The only think I dislike is the exclamation point at the end, but for a general rule, I don't like them in poetry at all... it's a really unfounded annoyance lol.
It's such a wonderful, beautiful poem, though. I hope your husband comes home, safe and sound, soon.

Awes, this is very saddening. I enjoyed reading your poem. I hope your husband comes home safe and sound. The ones who take our hearts so completely, the ONE lol, are so special. Most men don't understand just how much sometimes though. LOL Good luck! Don't loose hope, he will come home!

Hopefully he came home in one piece. That kind of feeling could get a guy attacked at the door. I like it.
