The saga is born

Here we are
Sitting in my friends car
Going somewhere unknown
Dodging traffic

We enter suburbia
A complicated maze
That not even the devil
Would be able to escape

It’s scorching
I look at the blackened lands
Once an empire
Now all wasted

We find the place.
My friend
Drops the package
And we're off

We make one wrong turn
And suburbia swallows us
You can’t navigate here,
Not even n compass works in hell

We decide to wing it
Stick to roads that
Feel right,
Of course it doesn’t work

Deeper and deeper we go
With the scorching sun
The useless map
And the devil laughing at us

We drive over a bridge
Over the highway
“YES! We made it”
Turn right here I scream

Of course that didn’t work
Now we are even more lost
Not even n satellite could find us
What now?

We come across a mall
We decide to stop
A utopia in hell,
How wonderful

We get some sustenance
We ask for directions
The guy tells us to take a left here and straight then a right there…
I stop listing

I look at the people
All posh and smiling
They’re all lying
Its all an act… real people aren’t that happy

I realize this is not a utopia
This is a scapegoat
For the people
Living in this hell

We get in the car
And we're off again
Neither one of us listened
To that man, he was a faker like the rest of them

45 minutes later
Right back where we started
And finally we get out
And drive home

Now I’m laughing
We got out and your still stuck
You can corrupt those people
But not us, we're smarter than that

I look at my friend and say
“This wasn’t a trip, it was a quest.”
“A quest of epic proportions”
He laughs

He looks at me and says
“NO, not epic, but Biblical”
“A quest of biblical proportions”
I laugh and consider the irony

Those would be my favorite lines.

The words hell and utopia seemed to come up alot. I think it may flow smoother if you replaced one of the utopias with paradise, thats just my opinion though

    great write
