Each new dawn when I awake
I take stock of all my dreams
And each dark night I lay to sleep
Ask what tomorrow brings
Will I arrive at passions' door
Or burn in fiery rage?
Realize my truest, fondest want?
Or be condemned unto my grave?
I question what tomorrow brings
My nights are filled with fears
Today the sunlight ruled my world
Tomorrow might be tears
Each new day I question if
It will be joy or pain
And surmise when I go to sleep
If this day was in vain
I love the days I fly above
The world in joy and bliss
I dread the days I know are soon
That pain leads me to miss
But when the dawn brings joy to me
I know it's all worth while
And when the pain consumes my soul
It's that that makes me smile
I take stock of all my dreams
And each dark night I lay to sleep
Ask what tomorrow brings
Will I arrive at passions' door
Or burn in fiery rage?
Realize my truest, fondest want?
Or be condemned unto my grave?
I question what tomorrow brings
My nights are filled with fears
Today the sunlight ruled my world
Tomorrow might be tears
Each new day I question if
It will be joy or pain
And surmise when I go to sleep
If this day was in vain
I love the days I fly above
The world in joy and bliss
I dread the days I know are soon
That pain leads me to miss
But when the dawn brings joy to me
I know it's all worth while
And when the pain consumes my soul
It's that that makes me smile
Author notes
This was a bit more difficult than I thought it would be. The prompt "Dawn" made me think because I've used it so often I had to be careful not to accidently repeat lines from some of my previous works. Very good excersize!

Dawn is a hard one to not make cliche, like my prompt 'string', I know how hard it is to try and not re-use thoughts. You did extremely well though, and it flows effortlessly.
