She left today,
With her suitcase
And go-to-hell stare,
But I've still got the music.
It's raining today,
All featureless clouds
And penny-smelling air,
But I've still got the music.
No passers-by today,
Just empty cobblestones
And a starving artist,
But I've still got the music.
No taxis today,
Just rain and emptiness
And loneliness and pain.
No cab driver today
To help me feel a little less
Like the last man on earth.
No taxis today,
But that's alright.
I'm not walking home just yet.
Pardon me sir,
Care for some music
While you paint?
It just so happens I've got some.
