Dusk is creeping
around the corner,
the bitter scent
of the eerie moonlit air
fills me with hunger and greed
for night.
Bag in hand I stride
over the threshhold of my home
and into the gloomy night.
I approach the first house,
and gaze at it's massive front doors.
Slowly I watch my hand
push the cobweb covered doorbell.
The door opens with a groan,
Suddenly i'm looking into the
face of a witch!
She reaches with a crippled hand
into her pocket and produces
a chocolate bar.
Smiling ,
she ever so gently places it
into my palm.
She gives me a wave and sings
with a voice like a dove,
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
Author notes
I did a free verse poem and used the word banks. I hope it's all right that instead of "moonlight" I used "moonlit"
Hope you enjoyed my poem.
