A star - long paintbrush of glowing -
has gently traced a road
that I follow through
pushing weeds, ripping thorns,
hatching from the egg
over
and over
again.
As others stargazed,
I had to get my hands dirty with stardust.
I had to create my own galaxy
far from the motherly love
of milky ways.
My eyes were forced open
by this violent thing, light.
Since then, they fed me papers.
Exams that needed chewed
at a certain speed,
with a certain motion pattern
of the incisors;
then spit up
sure to form a rainbow,
stolen data and creativity
in perfect alignment.
Eclipse the professor, the audience, the
world.
Or pay in cash.
Still
do I follow the path
of three words -
between long shifts,
meetings, traffic jams:
the dream waits for me,
confident and with serenity.
If with my working hands
I can serenade tonight away,
everything will smile
at me.

This is a really interesting poem - I love most of it, the line I didn't think fit in quite as well was 'Exams that needed chewed' but that might just be me
- this is an amazing re-write and I love the depth of your words and where they take my mind - places of beauty and gossamer! Love you
Keep writing
