Reclined and shielded
Behind the tinted buffer
Of the window
The tinged and darkened world
Side scrolls on framed
And picture perfect slides
As the air conditioner stings
My breath fogs the window
And through the fog, I see them
The depressing and devastating headlines
Scream and lurch at the window
Leaving their woes outlined on fogged glass
Tales of death, murder, and catastrophe
Litter and riddle the window and windshield
Like rain, it pours; like reign, it pores
They desperately tear and pry
To get in and consume me
And drag me down to their levels
On this path of life I’ve chosen
The journey has driven me to apathy
A waste of my time, I have better things to do
The world tries
To throw its weight on my shoulders
And make me a victim of its system
But I won’t have it
I have my own nightmares
I drive on, leaving it all in the dust.

Author notes
my view about news, i feel it's all sensationalized and over dramatic and when they have nothing better to report on they go and dramatize whatever they can get their hands on. If its not devastatingly depressing, its grotesquely overdone and I'm sick of it. the title represents the 'trendy' fashion news has taken. enjoy.

A really nice poem. I especially like the screaming headlines bit.
This is really food for thought for everyone.
Nice job and good luck! -
I completely agree....no news sells like bad news, right?...and bad news sells best when it is as magnified as possible.
I did enjoy. thanks for a thought-provoking write. well done.
