it was a grand day as none before
the sun settled slowly to the shore
all the birds sang the evening song
and breezes fair carried it long
wet children were splashing in the sea
laughing, playing, living free
the world knew peace, a goodness reign
sunbeams glistened off the harmony train
then one day a stranger arrived
he spoke not but carried a scythe
it was death coming to call
no one survived

those last 3 word "No one survived" really packed a punch
Nicely penned. In so few words you have said so much
