Remembering her favorite flower
Surprising him with his special milkshake
Combing her hair, applying her lipstick
Staying longer to finish a game of cards
Simple things that make our elderly smile
Leaving, feeling good about the day
It's me who walks away
Wearing the biggest smile across my heart

I have taken care of the elderly for 15 years and this is so heartwarming to me because it is exactly how I feel

wow, I don't remember reading this! This is /good/!
Sweetly and simply expressed. They are so precious, and so easily loved [and unwittingly neglected when we forget that 'it matters'].
And those smiles that never make it consciously to your face are sometimes the best ones of all.

Wonderful feeling though isn't it? And a telling deed of compassions that aren't a sacrifice in the least. More a gift, when it pleases both so much. Bet they smiled for the rest of the day. This is a sunny poemy! Composed by a sunny Poetess.Purely lovely and absolutely gold.

Smile across my heart ... great visual image.
And I'm afraid since I moved away from all the old friends, I've found myself so busy, and never finding the time to enjoy the things that will bring the smile, and never seem to find the people I need to take the time with.
Great write.

This really touches my heart, and makes me smile. It is just like you to go beyond your responsibilities to bring a bit of happiness and put a smile on a heart. Beautiful! Thank you for entering and sharing your soul.

How well you have expressed that old adage, 'the gift is in the giving.' This made me smile,..how could it not?
