comic relief

artistic vision
shimmers
behind the flat surfaces
of a grey-walled city

innocuous childhood motifs
silently reach out
to wrench you
down

to the swirling
depths
of a three-dimensional
imagination

This is an effective piece that manages to capture the picture. I love the use of innocuous too.

nice contrasts here - flat surfaces and three-dimensional imagination as well as the innocuous childhood motifs and swirling depths.

    Congrats on your gold trophy.

Congratulations on using the word innocuous in a poem to describe a batman picture.

Also congratulations on winning Pollys contest.

    It is a worthy write.

It ended so suddenly, well before I could tell where you were going. You described the awe and the spectacle well and your language was vivid. Cheers

    Your diction is incredible!

Impressive. Really. Either you are very close friends with a thesaurus or you studied the dictionary every day since early chidlhood. LOL.

This is a beautiful poem, just like the others I read.

There is something about your poetry that stills the soul --- it is so stunning, yet so gentle. Much like a waterfall - there's so much going on, swirling beneath the surface, rushing along in the currents --- yet it feels so peaceful and majestic, it quiets even the most ... unquiet mind (like mine).

You have true talent. It feels so genuine and natural, too - not forced or fake.

I like this; even though you've explained the image, you've twisted it to show something else; something about you
