hey guthrie

hey guthrie
i never heard
a song you wrote
but even so
i liked your
song box:
acoustic--
of course
finished so
fine it reflects
the world
but above that
-right above
that you painted
a poem
only four words
but a novel still:
this
machine
kills
fascists.

Oh, you have to get to a library and check out his songs for young children. I like that you see a novel in those four words, too. Yay, acoustic.

I will do that. I've actually heard tons of his songs since I wrote this poem. Glad to meet another fan, though.

Oh, the power of music . . . I like this piece. It manages to communicate a lot with its brevity, something I always enjoy when done well. Thanks so much for entering my contest!

I love the closing line to this. I assume you are refering to Woody. Have you heard the FULL version of
"This Land is Your Land"? If not check it out, a true anthem for dissidents.

    God Bless Woody...

four little words from one of the biggest voices ever to grace America....

Your piece is an interesting tribute..

And don't be so sure you haven't heard his stuff...so many others have covered his songs, and his influence lives on in so many of today's artists...

I will always have a special place in my heart for "This Land is Your Land"..I believe it ought to be our national anthem..

    All the best,

    Mat

    That's awesome!
I want a machine like so. Was it a jukebox perhaps? Or is a song box an actual device that I've never heard of because I'm ignorant? ><

You totally should! It would be a hit. It's catchy and simple and even an ignorant person such as myself would still enojy it. :3
