Little Cthulhu always sleepy
wake him up and he gets weepy
little thing from off Beyond
biggest fish in Lovecraft's pond
When he wakes up from his sleep
Cthulhu swims from way down deep
to find his followers on the track
how nice! They make a crunchy snack
his brother's name is yellow hastur
at writing plays he is a master
but if you read them, you will find
the king in yellow breaks your mind
nyarlathotep is cthulhu's friend
with him the games will never end
he always wears his thousand faces
and he's seen so many places!
Now the moon and stars are right
we'll all see a wondrous sight
Cthulhu rising up to state
the chants that bring about the gate
and from the starbeam road they trip
and wriggle, crawl, and oddly slip
the Great Old Ones have come to play
and on our earth they all will stay

Written to help a friend with a school project. She needed a child's poem, any topic. Inspiration was drawn from Gorey, Poe, and of course, the man himself, H.P. Lovecraft. Hope I kept this on par with a second-grader's level. I wouldn't know, I was one of those fancy-pants smart homeschooled kids.
