On a sunny day
the voice of a blue little girl
calls her family to the ocean and
the trees are
sleeping,
she knows.
Her big red sister and her big
red brother
told her the myths like a
prank. But her smile is wide
and still as she grows older
she will
pretend.
'Are fairy tales true?' she'd ask
time and
time again. Always the answer would be
'No, my darling.'
A cigarette is lighted. A ring of smoke
dissolves into air.
'Aren't you a little old for
fairy tales?'
On a sunny day
the voice of the wind pulls her
to the ocean and
the trees are
awake,
she knows.
'I can smell your belief,'
says a lone tree
standing secluded. She smiles
and with a flourish of magic
she carves out a beautiful face
in its bark.
The trees will awaken
again,
she knows.
They tell the story of a
blue little girl
who never lost her
childhood.

The use of a mythos setting to create the eternally young, the forever innocent brings out a vision enchanting. At the same time there is a feeling of sarcasim that creeps in about the time I read about the smoke ring. Very well done. Congrats on the gold. Well deserved.
Peace,
Tom B.
