a time of absolute purity,
never should I forget this event
the gravity of proof, it meant
the end of ignorant honesty.
But the poetry of this very moment
rises as beating hearts consent
to spill from deep currents of modesty.
Never should I forget this event
a product of an unformed intent,
so much of hidden instinct presses me.
But the poetry of this very moment
so overwhelming in all of its presents
I’d never say Love, more intensely;
never should I forget this event.
Fashion demands a gram of discernment
the force of envy might create a travesty,
but the poetry of this very moment…
never should I forget this event.

It is very generous to write in your own contest. Your collaboration with a Brazilian poet of eight decades distanced is the way to go. We writers of English can do well to visit such authors. This poem demonstrates that well.
Congratulations on this well-made classic French form.

Oh, my favourite poet, two of my favourite poets actually in a wonderful poem. Now if I were the judge of this contest, this would be my pick for gold, not only an excellent choice of poet but also a line of the very first poem I read written by Drummond.
You blended the lines so well, and the refrains worked perfectly. And you didn't choose 3 but 4 lines!
Loved it!

Leopold Senghor, Langston Hughes, Bandeira, Lorca, Drummond, de Lima, are some of my all time favorites... and this is a favorite verse from Drummond... "poetry of this very moment...", it is great to be able to pick these great writers' words and build a poem around them...thank you for all...h

I love it when a judge is inspired by his own contest, and your entry is wonderful as well. I don't envy your decision as judge since this contest has some of the most enjoyable poetry I have ever read. It is amazing how many poets have stepped up to the challenge of collaborating with a master of the genre and done it in such a successful way. I know this will inspire you to think of similar ways to involve the classics in our modern poetry. Peace, Liz

Thank you Liz-
I am happy for the dilemna, but afraid you are right, the quality of these great poet contest poems is high... these writers have met the goal of a seamless collaboration with these old masters, so impressive; and I noticed you have read and commented on nearly all of the entries... thank you so much for that...PK

Excellent collaboration, effectively chosen words hon.
I love the line;
"But the poetry of this very moment"
and your poetry captures this very moment perfectly.
