I wish that when you were close to me
you'd only see my love's radiation-
but I can see your thoughts swimming,
I can feel your pulsing apprehension.
I am the love- that is your life...
I am your second chance at happiness-
but when we sleep an hour apart,
I understand your grayed out bliss.
I can't touch your shaven face,
I can't stare into your eyes...
I'm not there when you wake up-
I'm there but far- I realize...
Is this all worth it,
The agony in lonliness?
Can we stand the distant pull-
can we handle the emptiness?
I like to think...
that you are made of steel-
because I hate to think
that your pain with me is real...
This love...your love...
should not bring you distress-
this love...our love...
should be pure happiness...
...I like to think we're made of steel...
but I can understand why that's not real...
so it's okay- my dearest love-
to take your heart and release the reel.
