Dueling Blades

As the blades shine in the morning mist
The flash of steel
Gleams in the suns bloody glow
As they entwine once more

As sparks fly

Breath is held

Waiting for the next blow

The blades entangled fury

Looks like a flowing dance of beauty

Whipping through the wind

As the blades slash

All is forgotten

Like a drunken fever

A thin slice

A splash of iridescent red

The blade's thirst not satisfied

He stabs again

The other runs away

Like the whistling wind

With a spurt of red

Blood cascades to the ground

The blades thirst now satisfied

He returns to sleep

This is a fascinating piece, written from the perspective of the weapon, rather than its wielder. The poem's imagery makes the fatal dance appear elegant somehow. Thanks so much for entering my contest!
