My flame was once afar, dancing...
Flashing the ritualistic dance
Looking...and wanting to find:
Find the other half that was since scattered
By a maker Above, Beyond and Great.
His hand, like the weathered skin of
The most experienced farmer.
Kneading the dirt, planting the seeds,
The seeds that grew into a life.
Across the globe, I've traveled and waited,
Searching near, wide, and far.
An eternal match, made special as
Though ordered by the loving lips
That have kissed me in my dreams.
A taste so sweet, I could swear it lingers,
Sugary sprinkles speckled on my smile.
Hands that caressed me, tenderly
And touched my soul;
Eyes so tender, I can feel their stare,
Watching me, planning your tedious love affair.
Never have I seen your face, but I can feel
Your presence. It is like that of my own
Bodily awareness.
Time has passed, the years dashing by,
And in him, I have found the other half.
The journey: oh, its sights, sounds, smells
Have prepared me for you, to be the perfect
Match; Two beings, joined as one.
A marriage of souls, minds, hearts, loves...
The yin and yang, completing life's eternal sun.
A love no deeper can be found.
Two hearts, each others' home, sound.
A fortress that sits upon the sea,
Waves crash, breaking...but an ending...
There will not be.

Author notes
Quote: "They are aware of each other; they live in each other; what else is love."-- The Years
Saw the quote and loved it. Wrote it off of the quote with some real life experienced added in. I believe that there is a perfect "match" for everyone, and I believe in my heart that I have found mine. I just tried to interpret that while weaving the quote into the story as well. Enjoy!

Wow, you took this quote by the hand and ran with it - what a story you created, and the background chosen was quite simply perfect for the poem itself! Great job; best wishes in teh contest

Your first stanza emerges with amazing imagery, some of the best I've encountered!
"time has passed, the years dashing by" --Isn't it astounding how they fly!?
I love the message, and truly hope your seemingly fairytale-esque story remains strong!! The ending feels a little cliche to me. I love the image of "A fortress that sits upon the sea,
Waves crash, breaking..." however, those very last two lines seem like they could be tweaked.
Overall, a fantastic story! Thank you so much for sharing!
