The fairy flew quickly
Through the darkness of night
A human she spotted
Had filled her with fright
He wore a metal mask
And brandished a spear
He seemed to get angry
When she flickered near
He was bearded and gruff:
Not friendly at all
She was trying to welcome him
With a kiss is all.
Why he got angry
She hadn't a clue
For it wasn't something
That a fairy would do.
But now he was chasing her
Deep in to the woods.
She raced through the briers
Just to see if he could
But he rode a great steed
That jumped over each one
She started to realize
Just how fast he could run
Her heart was beating
So fast in her chest
She thought it might explode
If she didn't soon rest.
Her home wasn't far
though deep in the woods
She flew around the trees
As fast as she could
Finally she arrived
But the knight was quite close
She turned quite defiantly
And now would never boast
Of how she took the head
Of the knight she had dread
And turned it into something
Better left unsaid.
