From The "I-Thought" To The Source Of "I"

Pure consciousness is asking : « Who am I ? »
to know its mask-less face, the faceless “I”
the sun behind some temporary clouds
the cloudless, space-less, unconditioned sky

When seeking for the “I” who thinks “I am”
no entity, no seeker will be found
no answer to the question can be formed
for “I” is silence listening to sound

“I” is immaculate, unaltered space
pure emptiness, not tied to form and name
the truth that thoughts and concepts cannot grasp
unlabelled and forever free from frame

“I” is sheer joy, vast spirit free from mind
the formless, timeless, undivided whole
true freedom, causeless happiness unbound
containing nothing – yet embracing all

I'm doing my best to integrate the teachings of advaita vedanta into my day to day life, the only spiritual teachings so far that have really "worked" for me ... and thanks to readers like you and some of my poet-friends from india on ap, I feel more and more encouraged to put these teachings into poetry ...
thank you so much for your visit,
      maa

Excellent! Though I would wager few would understand that it is a new "I" that is so unrelated to the old one as to be unrecognizable, yet containing every aspect of it. An "I" that is undefinable, yet witnessable. What lays beyond reason's grasp. Outstanding.

    great!!!!

dear Marion, nothing really can be added to your beautiful poem, yes it is consciousness, god itself, playing not to know his identity, playing to progress on a spiritual path while IT is what It always has been. IT is God, consciousness looking always out of the eyes of every living being.
    With greetings from my heart

    Ingrid

That last sentence says it all. Lovely poem maa! I wish I were there, but can't say that I am; but I know that I am. lol's

Great description in rhyme--very far eastern, and free in joy and thought. This would have made Buddha smile! Great poem and good luck in the contest! Got so interested in the poem took me until after I read it to see your picture go from you to cat and back again.

I like that you are happy inside for you refer to yourself as the sun.
    Warmth radiates within you.
I like that you don't identify within yourself.
For if you did all you would ever be is alone.
As you say never seek the I.
Always radiate outwards as the sun.
Give warmth to those around you.
And you will only ever gain warmth.
Even though you live in the cold space of whom I am?

This is a great metaphysical poem, and it could be true of all of us, if we could see as you do. Great work, I enjoyed reading completely.

    "I Am"...

...the joyous, soundless, formless shout... the still whisper... the voiceless Voice of Being...

Sweetly expressed from the stillness of Identity.

    Shine ever brightly,

    Rahad
