Mere puppets they, who come and go
shrouded forms, that start and sigh
but evil things, in robes of sorrow;
.
travelers, whipped with nighttime throe
chilling, thus, their nearing cry
mere puppets they, who come and go...
.
'round a murky dark chateau
now a sound, now a reply
but evil things, in robes of sorrow;
.
return to haunt, dart to and fro
flitting by the edgy eye
mere puppets they, who come and go...
.
heart-skipping trails in evening snow
signs of those whom we deny
but evil things, in robes of sorrow;
.
misted thoughts from years ago
mortal nature moods defy
mere puppets they, who come and go
but evil things, in robes of sorrow...
.
.

I love the sycopation and spookiness of Poe's works and you have crafted a wonderful complement. I was particularly fond of the way you moved from stanza to stanza and the way you mimicked Poe who often bisects a line with a comma. Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz

Excellent blend of you and Poe, suitably spooky with the imagery of those dark forms skulking about. Well done!

Ahhh yes,Poe, very nice the artistry of the eerie and haunting lines in collaboration here. This is very well done. The collaboration lines blend very well in the ideas and sounds...the mysterious and dark mood; I like this, a very creative use of the collaboration to tell a ghostly story. Again, very well done to make a single 'haunting' voice and an interesting narrative. Thank you for this fine entry into the contest and best of luck in the judging...PK
