Wings of Words

I find myself from time to time
Wishing for the breeze
And then the coldness sweeps me in
And brings me to my knees

I fly on warmest summer air
The words they are my wings
They wrap me in thier current, fair
And set my heart at ease

Yet then the darkness settles in
I crumple to the ground
I shiver as I whither there
And crumble without sound

My voice it has been silenced
By the most bitter cold
I long to spread my wings again
But words cannot be told

And then the bitter frost, it seems
Creeps from the frozen ground
My wings they thaw and flow again
Through sweetest summer sound

The words they are my freedom true
They soar the greatest hights
My wings of words they hold me now
And fly me through the night
