Angelique

You arrived for counseling ...
a turtledove flew ahead of you
and perched upon my antique scale.

I smiled.

Look! You brought God's token
of peace with you.

The bird then flew out,
swiftly and undisturbed.

How does one weigh miracles?

You phoned a few days later,
all excited:

A turtledove is perching on my patio
for two days now,
singing to me his peace song ...

You forgot to utter your compulsive obsessive
agony: that you are lost forever;
that God has left you.

But: the turtledove
that sang its twilight song
on my window sill
is silent ...

ever since you visited.

I love the imagery that you've used in this, true story or not... but it does seem very unfair doesn't it. You would have thought that one more dove singing would encourage more to, rather than subtracting from one somewhere else. I'm just a softie and yes, life can be like that... 'mysterious ways' and this is an excellent response to the prompt, I reckon. Sorry you ad to pay such a price for your helpfulness!
I much like your work Myra and good luck in the contest.

This is wonderful, but I would love to see this in a SOM contest, filled out and complete with the character study of that individual. I love stories like this. Miracles cannot be understood, just witnessed.
