The Well Worn Path

There it  lay.
The well worn path,
spread ahead
and I could see
the ease of taking it
and how, with little effort
life could pass me by
on the well worn path.
How I could miss
the joy of seeing
hidden things
beneath the tangled roots
of places never walked,
and people I would find
with like mind
on the path of chance
and daring.
The leap in the dark
away from safe
has been my way
and though not blessed
with riches
I have blessed memories
and never will regret
the choice to set
my life apart from
the well worn path.

    Good decision!

Over here they call it 'the path of least resistence' which I think sums it up beautifully ~ as does this honest and revealing piece. The image of 'tangled roots' is a wonderful metaphor for life's complexities, and you delicately point out in your wonderfully poetic way how this more 'tangled' path was the right choice for you.

    Bravo my friend!

The well worn path lays ahead of you. It's so easy that you would not see the hidden joys, the like minded people and the challenges. You took the difficult path not blessed with wealth but with great memories. Despite that, you will never regret your choice. Well done.
    Anna.

I fell in love with the imagery in this piece of work. I really liked these lines:

    The leap in the dark
    away from safe
    has been my way
    and though not blessed
    with riches
    I have blessed memories
