Pen For Hire (A collab with Milton)

As ever in my great taskmaster's eye
thy worth and skill exempts thee from the throng
where your old Bards, the famous Druids ly.

Chasing dreams along golden road’s vast sky
worded Images, glens and valleys strong
as ever in my great taskmaster's eye.

Visions of station and stature apply
rising beyond root’s sense of right and wrong
where your old Bards, the famous Druids ly.

Scribing elite memoirs, flowing scripts sigh
painted lies soothe thy conscience and prolong
as ever in my great taskmaster's eye.

Castles above stand watch as peasants try
claiming earth in ’membrance of words and song
where your old Bards, the famous Druids ly.

Still duty and honor conspire to pry
truth from thy hand for ink and quill belong
as ever in my great taskmaster's eye
where your old Bards, the famous Druids ly

This was quite an adventurous task to blend your voice with Milton and you have succeeded admirably. The wording is archaic but assessible and it feels like the work of one artist. The background is beautiful and adds to the lush feeling of this poem. Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz

I too, think you must have traveled back in time and walked in Milton's shoes. The wording and the form are perfect for your collaboration, you chose well and delivered a great piece.

You managed to escape to a former age in this collaboration with the epic Milton. And, your diction works well for you as do the excerpts as they follow on so naturally. Whether Milton looked back at the age of the druids much is a moot point; the important thing is that you have encompassed the age of Feudalism with unconscious deliverance.
And the Puritan touch with the great taskmaster, God, and the lessons of duty and honour.
Best of good fortune await you.

Yes, Milton, a great poet collaboration wish that might even come from a childhood adoption of this great writer, there is such a sense of adventure in his words and the blend here between two writers, two ages, is done extremely well in word choices, and styles. There is a complement on the surface and in the ideas. The message is so agreeable to the reader the shift to the contrast of rich and poor, the meaning of common/shared things, become so different because of status yet, in the end...none exceeds the other in intrinsic worth. Excellent. Thank you for this fine entry into the contest and best of luck in the judging...PK
