Someone to Tell

It's the liars who speak
crooning their wolfish tales
for the excitement of wide eyes
and righteous indignation
and the slice of time
for consoling attention.

But the world's gone cold
with slanted tales
and cynical disbelief
that's too idealistic
to acknowledge the stale
taste of truth.

If you never say a word
you are more honest,
hidden hearts have
no hidden motivation.

They'll know you
by your silence
if they ever know at all.

Author notes

For my creative writing class I have to submit something to the school's literary magazine...and I have no idea what piece of mine I should submit. Any suggestions?

I just love your first stanza here! Poetic and biting intro, and your conclusion is both bitter and true. I think this is a good one to submit or Pulling Crossed Arms Apart (I think that’s the title). It’s one you’re “Focused On”
